Everything in life is about perspective. Nothing is inherently good or bad (and neither could even exist with it’s balancing counterpart), but simply a matter of the angle from which we view it. The death of a loved one invites us to transcend such menial concerns as money and prestige, in addition to offering reminder of the other beautiful relationships we have. A cancelled visit with a friend could motivate an entirely different activity, leading you to meet the love of your life.
Photography has helped a great deal in broadening my own perspective to see this inherent truth. From one angle, the filtered early-morning sunlight dances through the mist, creating stunning visual effects. From a different angle, the mist becomes invisible and all we see is gentle sunlight.
